Spaceship Earth blasts off
Spaceship Earth launched on schedule Thursday 22 May 2014 at the City of Sydney’s Customs House information centre. More than 100 people attended the preview event, hosted by Customs House manager Jennifer Kwok.
Guest speaker was Dr Stuart Minchin, who holds two key positions as an Earth observations scientist. He leads the Environmental Sciences division of the Australian Government’s Geoscience Australia agency and is co-facilitator of the GEOSS Implementation Plan (2016-2025) Working Group at the intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEO) in Geneva.
Master of ceremonies was Richard Simpson, Brisbane-based CEO of the Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) and chair of the digital cities working group at the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE).
